“Jeri” South (July 5, 1934 – February 21, 2010)
Dorothy Geraldine “Jeri” South, 75, of Fayetteville, died Sunday,
February 21, 2010 at North Hills Life Care & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 5, 1934 at Bristol, VA, the daughter of Keikel and
Sally Ann Mitchell Dillard.
Jeri grew up in
Bristol, Virginia. Chester and Jeri were married in Bristol October
8, 1951. After Chester completed his military service, they moved to
Northwest Arkansas. They were active members of Immanuel Baptist
Church of 25 years and Jeri worked for several years at Johnson’s
Hardware. After retirement, Chester and Jeri spent 15 years serving
in ministries in Florida and Georgia, including leadership roles at
Lake Placid Conference Center, Placid Lakes Baptist Church and
Georgia Baptist Children’s Home. Since moving back to Fayetteville
in 2002, they have been members Ridgeview Baptist Church. Jeri
entered the presence of Jesus after suffering a stroke in December
2009.
She is survived by:

Funeral service will
be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 24 at Moore’s Chapel
Officiating will be Pastor Charlie Brown and Pastor Clark Lasse
Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5:00

Mary Gladys Seats
Dillard, age 78, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 18,
2008, at her home. She was born May 5, 1929, in Bristol Tennessee, a
daughter of the late James Clifford and Celia Louise Stout Seats.
She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Mrs. Dillard loved
the Lord and her family and will be greatly missed. |
In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Matthew
Dillard; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Cunningham; brother, Porter Seats;
and a sister, Patsy Spicer. Survivors include her daughters, Mary
Diggs and husband Doug, Geraldine Rose and husband Jerry, Vinnie
Gross and husband Kenny, and Peggy Lampkins and husband Gary; sons,
Butch Dillard, Buddy Dillard and wife Penny and James Dillard and
wife Lisa; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; sisters, Betty Warren, Hazel Hayes, Barbara
Jean Herron and Naomi Hall; brothers, Lester Seats, Bobby Seats,
Russell Seats, George Seats and Marvin Seats; special friend and
caregiver, Sheri Rose; special relative, Sandy Leone; and best
friend, Sis McFarland.
Funeral services
will be held Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral
Home Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Worley and the Rev. Donnie
Shaffer officiating. The burial will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in
Susong Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the men of Crossroads Baptist
Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Owens, Randy Burdick
and Galen Benson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45

Elizabeth Cunningham (Dillard),
Bristol, TN – Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Cunningham passed on to be
present with our Lord on January 10, 2008. She was 59. She was
preceded in death by her father, Fred Matthew Dillard, and her
husband, William Curtis Cunningham, Jr. |
Surviving are her three children, Gary
Wayne Boardwine of Princeton, WV, Christopher Wade Boardwine of
Alexandria, VA, and Kimberly Shann Coeburn of Strasburg, VA; her
stepdaughter, Kimberly Ann Armstrong of Leesburg, VA; her mother,
Mary Gladys Dillard of Bristol TN; her sisters, Mary Diggs of
Woodbridge, VA, Geraldine Rose, Vinnie Lee Gross and Peggy Lampkins
of Bristol, TN; and her brothers, Kickle Dillard of Abingdon, VA,
Elbert Dillard of Bristol, TN and James Dillard of Greeneville, TN.
She has five granddaughters, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Born in Bristol, TN, Elizabeth lived most
of her life in Northern VA. She worked as a nurse and then as a
proofreader for 20 years, retiring from the U.S. Government Printing
Office in 2000. She returned to Bristol, TN and her family with her
husband in 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday,
January 13, 2008, at 4 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with
the Rev. Donnie Shaffer officiating. Committal services will be on
Monday at 11 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.
Pallbearers include Mark Rose, Troy Rose, Robert Rose, David Gross,
Joshua Todd Boardwine and Shane Rogers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday
from 2 to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service and at other times at the
home of her mother at 1106 Carolina Ave., Bristol, TN. Online

Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2005, at her
home. She was a member of Bethel Mission Baptist Church in New

service. Graveside interment services were held Monday, February 28,
in Westview Cemetery with Rev. George Seats conducting the service.

Spicer, Clifford
Wayne, age 48, of Jefferson City passed away July 6, 2006 of
injuries resulting from a motorcycle accident. He is survived by his
father Laverne Spicer, siblings David Spicer and Sherry Anderson,
children Jennifer Rogal, James Spicer and Jessica Bell. He was the
proud Papa of 10 grandchildren; Allen, Emily, Abigail, Daniel and
Lauren Rogal; Olivia and Tyler Spicer; Dylan Poe, Jayden and Isaiah
Bell. He was preceded in death by his loving mother Patsy Spicer. He
was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Cunningham, William Curtis Jr.,
56, of 1117 Carolina Ave., Bristol, TN, formerly of Anchorage Cove,
Triangle, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 1,
2001, at home following three years of many illnesses. |
Born in Smithfield, NC, he had lived most
of his life in Northern VA. He was the son of the late Essie
Geraldine Weatherholtz and Guy Weatherholtz of Front Royal, VA. He
was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the International Elevator
Constructors Union Local 10 in Washington, DC, Metro Area. He served
two tours in the Vietnam War, where he received two Purple Hearts
during combat and received a Bronze Star for valor. He was of the
Protestant faith.
Survivors include: wife, Elizabeth Ann
Dillard Cunningham, Bristol, TN; daughter, Kimberly Ann Smith,
Leesburg, Va.; two stepsons, Gary Wayne Boardwine, Powhatan, Va.,
and Christopher Wade Boardwine, Alexandria, Va.; stepdaughter,
Kimberly Shann Coeburn, Woodbridge, Va.; brother, Ricky
Weatherholtz, Front Royal; three granddaughters, Melanie Jane
Cunningham, Leesburg, Va., Krystle Nicole Wood, Leesburg, and Kerri
Ellen Boardwine, Powhatan; grandson, Joshua Todd Boardwine,
Powhatan; and his many extended family members and family who loved
him.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8
p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Donnie Shaffer officiating. The committal will be at 1 p.m.
Tuesday at The National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN, with full
military honors conducted by the VFW Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975.
Pallbearers will be nephews: David Gross, Robert Rose, Troy Rose,
Mark Rose, Chad Freese and Brian Freese. There will be a
processional leaving at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday from the funeral home
to the cemetery. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr.
Ala Mortazavi and the staff of ICU at Potomac Hospital in
Woodbridge, and the staff of Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN.
Those desiring may make memorials to the Wellmont Hospice House, 280
Steele's Road, Bristol, TN 37620, or to the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at the Weaver

James Elbert Sevier Dillard, age
100, of Bristol, VA went to be with the Lord, January 23, 2006 at
his home. He was born November 2, 1905 in Kingsport, TN, a son of
the late Elbert Sevier and Ruthie Poore Dillard. |
Mr. Dillard made his home in the Bristol
area most of his life and was an electrician. Mr. Dillard was the
widower of Lena Mae Bryant Dillard to whom he was married 63 ½
years. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Charles
Dillard and Archibald Keith Dillard, as well as a daughter-in-law,
Ethel Hartsock Dillard and three Grandchildren.
He was the loving father of: Daughters:
Shirley Ann Frye and husband Don, Sarah Linda Leonard and husband
Ken, and Deborah Carol Dillard. Sons: Robert Sevier Dillard, Harry
Leon Dillard and wife Maxine, Harold Wayne Dillard and wife Pat,
Randall Eugene Dillard and wife Larue, Daniel Ray Dillard and wife
Clarice. Daughters-in-law: Geneva Hammond Dillard and Eula Davis
Dillard . A total of 110 Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and
Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday,
January 26, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church
with Rev. Walter Statzer and Rev. Austin Cook officiating. The
burial will follow at Susong Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel
Dillard, Don Frye, Sr., Rick Yett, David Flatt, Austin Flatt and
Bill Dillard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday
night at Weaver Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions may

Kenneth Charles Dillard, Spanaway,
WA – Kenneth Charles Dillard, 70, died Sept. 20, 2001, at St. Joseph
Hospital in Tacoma, WA. He was a native of the Bristol area and a
son of James Dillard of Bristol, VA., and the late Lena Dillard. He
was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years, spent eight
years as an assistant golf pro and was owner/operator of a
janitorial service for 18 years. |
In addition to his father, survivors
include his wife of 48 years, Eula Dillard; five sons; three
sisters; five brothers; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
The funeral service was held Sept. 25th,

Monday, January 24, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Dillard was a native
and life long resident of Bristol, Virginia and was the daughter of
the late William and Maggie Belle Meredith She was a member of the
Fellowship Chapel Church, Dorcas Ladies Circle and the Senior Choir
of Fellowship Chapel. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess
Dillard and her granddaughter Lisa Dawn Mitchell. |
Survivors include three daughters Linda
Roe and husband Timothy, Yvonne Purdy and husband Randal, Sherry
Vaughan and husband James; four sons Mike Sneed and wife Mary Beth,
Steve Sneed and wife Lisa, Jeff Sneed and wife Lynn, Allen Dillard
and wife Bobbie one sister Frances Goodwin, Brothers-in-law Harman
Dillard and wife Sue, Larry Dillard and wife Vickie. also surviving

2:00 P.M. Friday, January 28, 2005 in the Fellowship Chapel Church

Jessie Allen Dillard, age 62, of
2100 Catherine St. Bristol, Va. passed away Wednesday, January 28,
2004 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born July 15,
1941 in Bristol, Va. to the late Keckle and Sallie Mitchell Dillard.
He was a retired welder for Bristol Metals where he worked for 15
years. He was a member of Fellowship Chapel. |
He is survived by wife of 33 years,
Lillian G. Dillard. Also surviving: Daughters: Sherrie Vaughn and
husband J.R. Linda Roe and husband Tim Yvonne Purdy and husband

Stout, 94, of Vilas North Carolina, died December 17, 1999 at
Boone, NC. Born February 8, 1905, in Doeville, Tennessee to the late
Mathias and Ida McEwen Stout. Survivors include two daughters, one
son, and one brother, Gale Stout. Preceded in death by wife, Mrs.
Fay Wilson Stout, a grandson, a brother, Ed Stout and two sisters,
Mrs. Callie Robinson and Mrs. Anna Mae Stout. Burial: Beaver Dam
Cemetery.

Samuel J. Stout,
age 90, Mountain City, died at his home on Route 2, Monday
morning. He was a retired farmer and life-long resident of Johnson
county. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Ethel Stout, three sons,
Earl of Dallas, Ore, Frank and Walter Stout, Elizabethton; five
daughters, Mrs. Elsie Robinson, Butler, Mrs. Chelsie Moody, Mountain
City, Mrs. Iona Elliott, Mrs. Hazel Branch, Mrs. Mary Greer, all of
Butler; 30 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral
services were held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Little Doe
Baptist Church with Rev. Gwyn Blackburn and H. T. Mabry in charge.
Interment in Greer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Haskel Norris, Dana
McEwen, Clarence Cannon, Darl Keller, Frank Shupe, Medford Garland,
Florence Greer and Leslie Stalcup. Flower bearers were the ladies of
the church.

Dillard, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1989, in Holston Valley
Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport. He was a native of Johnson
City and had lived in Kingsport before moving to Bristol in 1925. He
was a retired carpenter and a member of North Bristol Baptist
Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Sally Ann
Mitchell Dillard. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Chester
(Geraldine) South; one step-son, Carson Mitchell; six sons, Fred
Dillard, Artie Dillard, Jessie Dillard, Gene Dillard, Harmon Dillard

46, of 21 Twelfth street, died at 5:50 a.m., yesterday at a
local hospital, after a year of declining health. Surviving are his
widow, Mrs. Grace Dillard; two children Bobby and Janie Dillard,
Bristol; four brothers, Alex and James Dillard, Kingsport, TN, Rufus
Dillard, Blountville, TN, Jess Dillard, Roanoke, VA., one
half-brother, Luther Dillard, Kingsport; and two sisters, Mrs.
Harlow Stevenson, Bristol, and Mrs. Virginia Morris of Alabama.
Funeral services will be conducted a the home at 2:30 p.m., Sunday,
with the Rev. E. F. Mitchell officiating and interment will be in
Shelby Hills cemetery. The body was removed in the residence from
Akard Funeral Home yesterday afternoon.

Ruthie Jane
Dillard, 13-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Dillard, died
at 6:40 o'clock Thursday morning at the home on Commonwealth avenue
extension. Surviving are the parents and one brother, Junior.
Funeral services will be conducted a the Free Will Baptist Church in
West Bristol at 2 o'clock this afternoon in charge of the Rev. E. F.
Mitchell, assisted by the Rev. Joe Corvin and the Rev. J. F.
Hodgson. Interment will be made in the Bower cemetery near
Kingsport. Friends and neighbors will be selected as pallbearer and
flower bearers.

Archie Keith Dillard, 2401 Windsor
Ave., Bristol, TN, died Friday, July 13, 1990, in Bristol Regional
Medical Center. He was a native of Bristol, attended Fellowship
Chapel and was a member of Shelby Masonic Lodge 162. He was a member
of the Watauga Valley Art Association, and won several awards for
his art displays, with one piece being displayed at the White House.
Survivors include his wife, Dr. Geneva Hammond Dillard; one
daughter, Mrs. Mirdeath (La Verne) Wiley, Piney Flats; two sons,
Keith Dillard, Kingsport, and Mark Dillard, Bristol Tennessee; two
